Bloorcourt

The Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre (CONC) is home to one of the longest lasting Graffiti Arts programs in the city of Toronto. As a pioneer of the city-funded Graffiti Transformation program, CONC has employed dozens of emerging and experienced graffiti artists in Toronto to beautify the Bloorcourt and Bloordale areas (Wards 17,18, 19) in an effort to create awareness about Graffiti as an ART form and to discourage vandalism. The Graffiti Arts program is based out of the LOFT, the youth program inside the basement of CONC, which provides a drop-in space for at-risk youth, new to Canada and street-involved, to access free services including computer technologies, food, and life skills workshops. The LOFT also possess a professional standard music studio, which is open for booking by musicians at a very affordable community rate.

Join us Wednesday evenings between 6 and 8pm to catch some of the work of the artists recording at our studio as we jam at CONC for something we call "LIVE @ the LOFT." This summer, the LOFT Graffiti Arts crew is attempting to do a number of major murals in the area. Three major murals have already been completed.

The latest mural is a Tribute to Michael Jackson R.I.P. mural behind African Palace (834 Bloor St West).

Finally, a mural of the Jazz legends was completed behind Bloor St Cafe recently, just on Bloor east of Bathurst. Follow this link for more details on that one.

If any community members, business or land owners are interested in having their wall beautified, please contact us to arrange for a mural to be painted. Right now, the team is working on a few project, including the Concord Road mural that was whitewashed (a former CONC mural) as well as the walls of the swimming pool in Christie Pitts. Last note, we are working on a documentary film this summer about Graffiti in the neighbourhood, so we are inviting community members to contribute if interested. Please contact
